Friday, April 25, 2008, the Filipino Bar Association of Northern California (FBANC) will host its annual Installation Dinner at The Four Seas Restaurant, 731 Grant Ave (at Clay) in the heart of San Francisco’s Chinatown.
Registration and reception starts at 6:30pm. Program starts at 7:30pm.
Keynote Speaker is the Hon. Efren N. Iglesia, Monterey County Superior Court Judge.

We especially encourage law students to hear the insights and inspirations from our panel of Fil-Am attorneys. The Evening with Fil-Am Attorneys provides law students and attorneys a chance to meet and mingle.
This event will be held at a special venue, Togonon Gallery in Union Square. It is the only Filipino owned and operated art gallery in San Francisco. Wine, food, and drinks will be provided.

The Public Interest Law Project (”PILP”) is seeking a staff attorney to
serve as lead counsel or co-counsel in state and federal court litigation
involving public benefits. PILP is a state support center for legal
services and State Bar IOLTA funded law offices, represents low-income
persons and seeks to improve their lives through major litigation and policy
advocacy in public benefits, housing, and civil rights.
Description
The staff attorney will litigate public benefits related
issues, undertake administrative and legislative advocacy, and conduct
trainings and prepare community education materials to advise attorneys in
legal services, IOLTA funded law offices, and other individuals on public
benefits issues.
Requirements
Member in good standing of the California State Bar. Federal
and state court litigation experience, particularly in the areas of public
benefits, civil rights, or health law is desirable. The candidate must
demonstrate a strong commitment to advocacy on behalf of low-income
communities and knowledge of local, state and national issues affecting
low-income communities. Excellent research, writing, communication and
group interaction skills are essential.
